is a win-win situation ever possible?

several life examples have shown me that every good thing precedes a loss in one way or another, or vice versa. it's a trade-off, a natural counter-balancing act resulting from the acts of human or natural forces. when one side stands to gain, the other party stands to lose. but sometimes, one side of the balance continues to ride on the wave while the other falls deeper. the balance never reaches a equilibrium, in this case.

rich-poor divide, the north-south divide are perfect epitomes.

or, this is also just like how a bastard took away my wallet while i was sleeping, after i cheated hundreds of dollars worth of items from the esf.

i was hardly surprised when that happened, not least because i expected it to happen, but rather because there was every possibility for screw ups like these to happen in that place all day long.

i do not wish to undermine the purpose of directives, regulations etc., but when time and time again these papers become obstacles in the whole process flow, then they're better off not followed.

i just hope that the 6 years in a statutory board will yield more happiness than frustrations arising from such bureaucracy. if i was brave enough i will not take up this offer, but the lure of an overseas experience is too strong too be ignored.

today capped off a terrible week where i lost $150 unnecessarily, got dumped with a pile of work and played badly in a soccer game from which I returned with more cut marks on my knee than smiles on my face.

earlier this year i have set out to correct the 2 fatal flaws that has been causing me trouble all these while. number one, poor time management and number 2, being woefully callous and careless.

seems like nothing has been achieved thus far. this week has seen 3 scenarios of mad rush from home and taking unnecessary cab rides to get to destinations on time. and to top it off, i made a dreadful error that took away $117 bucks from my savings.

this has to change and YES I WANT TO GET RID OF THESE hideous habits as much as I can.

And I am still at Jane Eyre, after 1 and half months.

3 days of hell it was indeed. a badly bruised and swollen cheek was just the starters. the inability to open your mouth and the constant pain, not to mention the occasional flow of blood out of your mouth were good tests of patience. i can scarcely understand why wisdom tooth surgery tops the 'Top 5 medical excuses to escape from field-camp in SAF' chart.

but nevertheless, the 3 days were well spent watching wimbledon, catching up on recent and outdated issues in this small island we live in (about Jehovah's witnesses and organ trade to be exact), and of course, practising my culinary skills. despite my mum's relentless calls for care and cleanliness in her sacred workplace, i think i have done enough to keep her mouth mum at least till the next time i screw up when i cook

No. 1 - Home-made Cheese!

No. 2 - CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP (I think it tastes damn good)

both didn't take much effort to make. you realise that cooking's good for organic chem revision too - heat causes caesin to denature and lactic acid causes caesin to curdle - which is why we have milk curds to make cheese. and onions caramelises after stirfrying them in butter - becoming brown with a nutty flavour. blah blah bllah.
